Katsina State Police Commissioner, Sanusi Buba says his command in recent time made achievements in the fight against banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other forms of crime and criminality.

ARREST OF NOTORIOUS BANDIT/ARMED ROBBER AND CATTLE RUSTLER AND RECOVERY OF ONE AK 47 RIFLE:

On 26/09/2020, O/C SARS Katsina and team succeeded and carried out a sting operation at Runka village, Safana LGA of Katsina state and arrested one Hamisu Sani, ‘M’, aged 25yrs of Garin Gambo village, Safana LGA, Katsina, a notorious bandit, armed robber and cattle rustler terrorising Safana LGA of the state.

In the course of investigation, one AK 47 rifle was recovered in his possession. Investigation is ongoing.

ARREST/SMASHING OF A NOTORIOUS KIDANAP FOR RANSOM SYNDICATE:

On 01/10/2020 at about 12:30hrs, based on credible intelligence, the command succeeded in smashing a notorious syndicate of armed robbers, kidnappers and cattle rustlers terrorising Jibia LGA of Katsina state and its environs.

A team of detectives led by O/C SARS, Katsina while on routine patrol along Jibia road, accosted the duo of one Umar Ibrahim, alias “BASHAU” ‘M’, aged 22yrs of Karaduwa village, Matazu LGA of Katsina state and Jamilu Lawal, ‘M’, aged 27yrs of Guzurawa village, Safana LGA of Katsina state on a motorcycle, Boxer and unregistered.

Suspects have been on the wanted list of the Command for banditry, armed robbery and kidnappings in Matazu LGA of Katsina state.

In the course of investigation, the sum of Nine Hundred and Sixty Eight Thousand and Two Hundred Naira (N968,200:00K) was recovered in their possession during search, reasonably suspected to be proceeds of kidnapping and cattle rustling.

Furthermore, eight (8) different types of GSM handsets and criminal charms were recovered in their possession.

Investigation is ongoing.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED SYNDICATE THAT SPECIALIZES IN STEALING MOTOR VEHICLES:

On 26/09/2020 at about 20:30hrs, based on a tip off, the command succeeded in arresting one Aliyu Usman, ‘M,’ alias Cash Money, aged 25yrs of Kofar Sauri Quarters, Katsina, a notorious ex-convict, who specializes in stealing of motor vehicles.

Nemesis caught up with the hoodlum when he stole a motor vehicle, Toyota Hilux, white in colour, with registration number 12A 403 FG, property of Federal Ministry of Health, Department of Port Health Services, Katsina, under the care of one Lawal Attah, ‘m’ of Danja LGA of Katsina state, which was parked along Yahaya Madawaki road, Katsina.

In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to the commission of the offence alongside Abba, ’M’ of Iyatawa Quarters, Katsina, and Alhaji Arma, alias Sham, ‘M’ of Galla, Damagaran, Niger Republic (now at large).

Two fabricated master keys were also recovered in his possession during police search.

ARREST/BUSTING OF SUSPECTED SYNDICATE OF CATTLE RUSTLERS ;

On 28/09/2020 at about 13:00hrs, based on a tip off, Police patrol team attached to Batagarawa Division, while on routine patrol along Babbar Ruga to Bakiyawa road accosted the duo of one Jibril Illiyasu, ‘M’, aged 35yrs and Jibril Usman, ‘M’, aged 30yrs all of Barawa village, Batagarawa L.G.A of Katsina state in possession of one bull valued three hundred thousand Naira (N300,000:00K) belonging to one Alhaji Haruna, ‘M’, and Alhaji Dan Baffa ‘M’ of Dutsen- Safe Quarters, Katsina.

In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to the commission of the offence.
Investigation is ongoing.

ARREST OF KIDNAPPER, CATTLE RUSTLER AND ARMED ROBBER:

On 03/10/2020 at about 18:00hrs, based on a tip off, the command succeeded in arresting one Sani Haruna, ‘m’, aged 20yrs of Kwakwara village, Safana LGA of Katsina state, a notorious armed robber, cattle rustler and kidnapper.

Nemesis caught up with the hoodlum when he was accosted by DPO Safana while on his way to Rugu forest.

In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to have conspired with seven others (now at large), armed with AK 47 rifles and attacked Kwakwara village, Safana LGA of Katsina state, shot and killed one Mallam Murnai, ‘M’, aged 60yrs and injured his son, one Gambo Saidu on his right hand.

The bandits also made away with eight (8) cows, fifty (50) sheep and ten (10) goats. Suspect confessed to the commission of the offence.

Investigation is ongoing with a view to arrest fleeing members of his syndicate.

ARREST OF NOTORIOUS BANDITS/KIDNAPPERS/ARMED ROBBERS TERRORIZING SAFANA LGA OF KATSINA STATE:

On 23/09/2020 at about 16:30hrs, based on a tip off, Police Patrol Team attached to Area Command, Dutsinma, while on routine patrol along Dutsinma – Safana road, intercepted the duo of one Umar Haruna, aged 52yrs and Umaru Saminu, alias ‘BARKAYE’, aged 37 yrs both of Babban Duhu village, Safana LGA in possession of two brand new unregistered motorcycles Honda ACC 125 with Chassis number 953 and 914.

In the course of investigation suspects confessed to have been sent to Kano state to collect the two motorcycles from one Emmanuel (now at large) by one Alhaji Bello Dogo, a notorious bandit terrorizing Safana, Batsari, Jibia and Kurfi.

Who is also on the police wanted list. Suspects are also reasonably suspected to be suppliers of motorcycles to other bandits in the forest.

ARREST OF A NOTORIOUS MEMBER OF KIDNAPPING/ARMED ROBBERY/CATTLE RUSTLING SYNDICATE AT KANKARA:

On 16/9/2020 at about 0830hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Sanusi Abubakar, ‘m’, 25yrs Unguwar Gajere village, Kankara LGA of Katsina state, a notorious armed robber, kidnapper and cattle rustler.

In the course of investigation, suspect confessed that some time in the month of January 2020, at about 23:30hrs, he conspired with one Bello Lawal, ‘M’, aged 26yrs and one Alh. Ibrahim Kawo (now at large) of the same address with some other yet to be identified bandits, armed themselves with AK 47 rifles, attacked and kidnapped one Alh. Haruna Garba, ‘m’ of the same address where a ransom of Three Million Naira (N3,000,000,00k) was paid to them before he was released.

Furthermore, suspect confessed that, in the process of kidnapping the said Alhaji Haruna, the suspect Ibrahim Alh. Kano shot and killed one Ibrahim Lado, and rustled one cow belonging to the said Alh. Haruna Garba which he handed over the cow to Bello Halbi who disposed same at Batsari Market.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED CATTLE RUSTLERS AND RECOVERY OF RUSTLED ANIMALS –

On 28/09/2020, based on a tip-off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Suleman Abdullahi, ‘M’, aged 20yrs and Abdullahi Bello ‘M’ aged 21yrs all of Kuka Sheka village, Kankara L.G.A of Katsina state.

In the course of investigation suspects confessed to have conspired and rustled one cow, valued two hundred and seventy thousand (N270,000) Naira, at the house of one Kabir Alh. Amadu ‘M’ of Borin Dawa village, Malunfashi L.G.A of Katsina state.

Suspects were trailed, traced and arrested at Charanchi Market, when they were trying to dispose of the said rustled cow.

CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, BELONGING TO GANG OF BRIGANDS AND BEING IN POSSESSION OF DRIED LEAVES SUSPECTED TO BE INDIAN HEMP:

On 28/09/2020 at about 12:30hrs, based on a tip off, Police Patrol team, attached to Kafur Division, while on routine patrol along Kafur to Dabai road, intercepted a motor vehicle, Golf III, red in colour, with registration number KMC 117 LL, driven by one Danjuma Yakubu, ‘M’, aged 28yrs of Kwangila Quarters, Zaria, Kaduna state, loaded with twenty (20) neatly parceled loaves of dried leaves reasonably suspected to be Indian hemp.

Investigation is ongoing.

ARREST/SMASHING OF NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBERY SYNDICATE AND RECOVERY OF TWO LOCALLY MADE PISTOLS:

On 24/09/2020 at about 21:30hrs, the Command succeeded in smashing a notorious syndicate of armed robbers terrorizing Funtua LGA and its environs.

Nemesis caught up with the trio of (1) Sadi Idris, ‘M’, aged 28yrs of DanKawo village, Funtaua (2)Abubakar Ado, ‘M’, aged 20yrs of Dankawo village, Funtua and (3) Aminu Kamilu, ‘M’, aged 22yrs of Yartafki village, Funtua when they were accosted at a location in Funtua on an unregistered Boxer motorcycle.

In the course of investigation, two locally made pistols were recovered in their possession. Suspects are reasonably suspected to be members of the armed robbery syndicates terrorizing Funtua and its environs.

ARREST/BUSTING OF A NOTORIOUS SYNDICATE OF SUSPECTED FRAUDSTERS AND ARMED ROBBERS THAT SPECIALIZE IN DEFRAUDING AND ROBBING PEOPLE OF THEIR MOTORCYCLES, HANDSETS AND MONEY :-

On 30/09/2020 at about 06:00hrs, based on credible intelligence, the Command succeeded in busting a notorious syndicate of armed robbers/fraudsters terrorizing Katsina metropolis.
The suspects were arrested inside Samari African Hotel which they used as their hideout and a place for making fake currencies to unsuspecting members of the public.

Those arrested include (1) Jamilu Abdullahi ‘M’ 30yrs, of Katsina Town (2) Bello Aliyu, ‘M’ aged 22yrs of Kano state , (3) Ibrahim Haruna, ‘M’, aged 23yrs of Gwale Quarters, Kano state.

In the course of investigation, a victim one Lawal Abdulkadir, ‘M’, aged 21yrs, identified the suspects to be the ones that attacked him with a knife and robbed him robbed him of his unregistered Boxer Motorcycle, valued one Hundred and fifty thousand (N150,000,00) Naira and the sum of two thousand (N2,000,00) Naira, at Filin Muntari-Gasu, Janbango Quarters, Katsina.

Suspects confessed to belong to a gang of thieves coming all the way from Unguwa Uku Quarters, Tarauni LGA of Kano state to Katsina state to perpetrate their nefarious activities.

ARREST OF A NOTORIOUS SYNDICATE THAT SPECIALIZES IN SELLS OF ILLICIT DRUGS AND INFORMANTS TO BANDISTS:

On 27/09/2020 at about 13:00hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting the trio of (1) Jamilu Isah, (2) Hafizu Rabi’u, (3) Kabir Hassan inside a hotel room in possession of some quantity of illicit drugs; which include twenty-one (21) wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 445 Exol tablets, 390 Diazepam, 45 D5 tablets, Gionee Handset and one unregistered Bajaj motorcycle.
